The Mike copper occurrence is reported to be located on a tributary of Bambrick Creek, as shown on Geological Survey of Canada Map 1963-29.

More recent mapping (Geological Survey of Canada Open File 534) indicates this area to be underlain by Oligocene-Miocene andesitic volcanic rocks and Jurassic and Lower Tertiary felsic intrusions.

The relationship of the copper occurrence to the geology of the area is not known. No copper mineralization was identified on the property by the various exploration programs but stream sediment sampling has identified two areas of anomalous gold.

In 1970, Northwest Ventures completed a large program of soil sampling, a 283 line-kilometre ground magnetic survey and a 134 line-kilometre induced polarization survey on the area as the Mike and Sun claims. In 1981 through 1983, C.F. Mineral Research prospected and took stream samples in the area as the Cart and Rich claims. In 1989, Pioneer Metals completed a program of stream sediment sampling on the Rich claims. In 1992, Noranda completed a program of soil sampling on the Cart claims. In 2010, Amarc Resources completed a large, regional- scale program of geological mapping, soil sampling and 172.8 line-kilometres of induced polarization surveying on the area as the News claims. Also at this time, Geo Minerals completed a more localized program of geochemical sampling and geological mapping on the area as the Chevy claims. In 2012, Amarc completed an induced polarization survey on the area.
